Safer Internet Day 2008 – combat online child sexual exploitation

2008-01-29 the Honourable Stockwell Day, Canada’s Federal Minister of Public Safety, announced one of the federal government’s largest investments ever to a national charitable organization that helps to protect children from online adult sexual predators.

Government of Canada announces $2 million to combat online child sexual exploitation

One of the main objectives of this funding is to help this organization to handle leads from the public about sexual exploitation online such as in chat rooms or on social networks such as Facebook.

But we find such uncoordinated efforts may not do as much good as we need. So either we coordinate these efforts as the European Union did with its Safer Internet Day 2008 or we have one central organization that coordinates these efforts.

But this Canadian example is just one of many, the city of Zurich does not do better either, see here:
